Dotemu & Arcade Crew: Sustaining Long-Term Revenue Through Offline Activations and Continuous Feedback
The Challenge & Solution
The Challenge
Launching a fast-paced, solar-punk FPS like Abyssus requires building genuine excitement among hardcore gaming communities. Early in the process, the game faced scrutiny from discerning Chinese players, resulting in a mixed initial rating. The publisher, already highly experienced with Chinese partners , needed a trusted team on the ground to not only manage the launch but also to close the feedback loop between local players and the developers to ensure long-term success.
Our Collaborative Strategy
We worked closely with the Dotemu and Arcade Crew teams to build a comprehensive, multi-phase roadmap.
- Exclusive Offline Premiere: Three weeks before the global launch, we secured a dedicated booth at ChinaJoy. We set up four PCs, making China the very first place globally where players could experience the full game offline.
- Benchmark Influencer Campaigns: With every quarterly content patch, we deployed strategic paid influencer videos. These high-quality videos acted as benchmarks, inspiring a broader network of organic creators on what to record and how to showcase the game's mechanics.
- Closing the Feedback Loop: We actively monitored player sentiment and directly relayed actionable feedback to the studio. This ensured that bugs or optimization issues spotted by Chinese players were quickly addressed in subsequent patches.

Impact & Results
- Through our continuous efforts, the Chinese market consistently represents around 9% to 10% of the game's total player base.
- During our synchronized paid marketing beats alongside major patches, we see immediate sales spikes, jumping significantly from the baseline 5-6% retention rate between updates.
- The ongoing updates and our localized communication have successfully maintained long-term excitement and revenue for the title.

What It Worked
This case highlights the power of a long-term, localized presence. By combining high-impact offline events with continuous, transparent communication between the Chinese community and the developers, we helped the studio turn initial critical feedback into a roadmap for continuous growth and sustained revenue.
