Huqiao Games Is Now in the Vancouver Tech Corridor

Huqiao Games is expanding into North America with a new office in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada — bringing our team closer to the Western game studios we work with across the region.

Hello, Vancouver! Huqiao Games Opens a North American Hub.

Huqiao Games is expanding into North America with a new office in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada — bringing our team closer to the Western game studios we work with across the region.

For years, we've helped international game studios navigate China's gaming market, from understanding local player preferences to building communities and planning market-entry strategies.

Now, we're taking another step in that journey.

Our new Vancouver-area office gives North American developers a closer point of contact with the Huqiao team, while connecting them to our market expertise, industry relationships, and on-the-ground operations in China.

But this expansion is about more than opening another office. It's part of a journey that has taken Huqiao across Europe, Asia, and now North America.

From Poland to Hong Kong to Vancouver

Huqiao's journey has taken us from Europe to Asia and now North America, with China's gaming market at the centre of our work.

🇵🇱 Poland — Where Our Journey Began

With roots in Poland, Huqiao built its business around connecting Western game developers with Chinese players.

As more developers began looking beyond their domestic markets, we saw a growing need for practical, localised support that went beyond translation or traditional marketing.

Our European presence continues to connect us with developers and publishers across the region, helping bridge the gap between Western game development and China's distinctive gaming ecosystem.

🇭🇰 Hong Kong — Our Headquarters: Closer to China

As Huqiao grew internationally, Hong Kong became our headquarters, bringing us closer to China's gaming market, where most of our team is based. This also reflects our commitment to representing Western games effectively in China.

With colleagues working on the ground in mainland China, we're able to stay close to the local players and gaming communities we're trying to reach. From following discussions on Bilibili, Douyin, and HeyBox to gathering player feedback and collaborating with local content creators, these everyday interactions help us understand how different games resonate with Chinese audiences.

Our presence in China also extends beyond online communities. Through industry events such as ChinaJoy, WePlay, and RedLand, we've had opportunities to meet developers, publishers, and gaming professionals in person, exchange perspectives, and stay connected to developments in the Chinese games industry.

Having our headquarters in Hong Kong, alongside our team in mainland China, helps us bring these local perspectives into the way we work with international studios.

🇨🇦 Vancouver — Our Next Chapter

Now, we're bringing our China-based experience and international perspective closer to North America.

With our new office in Burnaby, part of the Greater Vancouver area, we're building stronger relationships with Canadian and US studios, making it easier to connect, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities in China.

Vancouver also represents an important step in building a more connected international team, with local perspectives from different regions contributing to the same mission: helping great games succeed across markets.

Why Vancouver?

Vancouver puts Huqiao in one of Canada's established game development hubs, surrounded by studios, publishers, and industry professionals working on games for global audiences.

Canada had 821 active video game companies in 2023–24, with 83% based in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, according to the Entertainment Software Association of Canada.

But the opportunity extends well beyond Vancouver. Across the Pacific, China had 722 million players, according to Niko Partners. In North America, ESA's 2026 report counts 212.3 million players in the US, while the Entertainment Software Association of Canada reports 23 million Canadians who play video games.

And it's not just about the number of players. China and North America are two of the world's biggest gaming markets — and they're closer in gaming revenue than you might think.

Newzoo’s 2026 forecast puts China’s games market at $58.1 billion and North America’s at $56.9 billion — each representing roughly 27% of global games revenue.

For Huqiao, having a presence on both sides of the Pacific brings these two gaming ecosystems closer together. Working with North American studios from across the ocean is one thing. Being able to visit, sit down with a team, and discuss a game in person is another.

What We've Learned from Bringing Games to Chinese Players

Over the years, our work with international game developers has reinforced one important lesson: there is no single formula for success in China. Different games attract different communities, and understanding those audiences early can make a meaningful difference.

Our projects with It Works: Electronic Store Simulator and Abyssus offer two examples of how locally relevant content and community engagement can help games connect with Chinese players.

Every game is unique, and results depend on many factors, including genre, player preferences, content, and timing. But across our work, one principle remains consistent: understanding the audience comes before reaching the audience.

And as more North American studios explore opportunities in China, we hope to bring these experiences into more conversations across the region.
